A LOOONG time since the previous one. Anyway, here it is, and it features (again in word only) the Major, alluding to the events of BC5. Notice something rather unusual about this one - I coloured in the Worms' mouths as black by mistake! It had been so long since I'd done a strip, I'd forgotten how I did the mouths (among other things... the date is on the far right, and I included my middle initial in my name!). The status quo returned in the later cartoons - the black mouths took more time and look rather messy, if you ask me. This is probably my most dialogue extensive cartoon, with Corporal being most un-military and questioning her superiors, and Sarge trying his best to counter her...

Transcript

(1) SARGE (on phone): Yes, sir... yes, I understand... okay... goodbye, sir...
(2) SARGE: That was the Major. He's returning to base soon.
CORPORAL: How'd his holiday go?
(3) SARGE: It wasn't a holiday. He was inspecting troops out there.
CORPORAL: In Switzerland?
(4) SARGE (squirming towards the door): Just because it hasn't had a way for nearly two centuries, doesn't mean they don't need an army.
CORPORAL: I understand he took his skis...
(5) SARGE: Well... they're alpine troops...
CORPORAL: As you say, Sarge. How's his car?
(6) SARGE: He says much better now Grenades aren't hitting it all the time
CORPORAL: You know, I think the men are still a bit sore at the way he treated them after that.
(7) SARGE: What makes you say that?
CORPORAL: You see for yourself...
(8) On the parade ground...
SARGE: The Major's returning to base...
GEORGE: How'd his holiday go?
FRANK: Yeah, did he break his tail skiing?
